

PUPPY CHALLENGE 1 - Puppies between 7 and 18 weeks of age. An all-positive, fun learning experience for puppies. The main purpose of this course is socialisation. One of the most important things you can do for your puppy is to let him or her socialize early with other dogs to avoid problems later on. Young puppies are very impressionable and easy to train because they don't know much of anything and haven't learned any "bad" behaviours yet. Now is the perfect time to encourage desired behaviours through positive reinforcement. The habits your puppy now learns he or she will also know as an adult. • This course is aimed to teach puppies to grow up to become happy, well-adjusted, socialized and confident adult dogs. • Skills Taught: Socialization with dogs and people, appropriate play behavior, bite inhibition, sensory stimulation, familiarity with different groundwork and strange surfaces, focused attention, and various topics such as House training, Toys, Punishment, Body Language, etc. • Puppies will be introduces to basic exercises like: Sit, Down, Stand, Recalls “Come”, Attention Control, Stay, Walk on loose leash, Leave, Relinguish “drop”, Settle, Taking treats nicely, body handling (being touched all over their bodies - TTouch™) • Teaching the puppy appropriate behaviours in a controlled environment. • To inform owners of the latest (positive) techniques in changing and preventing un- wanted behaviours (jumping, chewing, barking, toy possessiveness, digging, bully- ness etc.) • Wonderful fun and learning experience for puppies and their owners! • Exclusively for young puppies 7 – 18 weeks of age (depending on breed) • No force or punishment! • Prerequisite: at least 8 weeks old at the start of the class and not older than 18 weeks, proof of first vaccination, soft collar and leash or harness (NO choke chains), deposit of 50% to hold a place, one puppy per handler/owner and if you have 2 puppies you receive 20% discount for the 2nd puppy joining from the same house- hold. • 6 classes, 1 hour each week PUPPY CHALLENGE 2 - Puppies not older than 12 months This class is for puppies who have previously had a puppy class, with Dog Challenge or any other puppy training school. This course also helps you as owner to navigate your puppy’s adolescence, and focus on maintaining bite inhibition and socialising. • The goal of Puppy 2 is to focus on building your puppy’s confidence, to become a relaxed well behaved adult dog and making sure your dog remains people-friendly, dog-friendly and safe. • Puppies will be introduced to the following skills: Off-leash play, Clicker training, Relationship skills, Confidence building (games and obstacles) including Outside outings – weather permitting. • Puppy II comprises proofing verbal and hand signals with clicker training, continuing basic commands such as down, sit, recall, attention control, leave it, drop, loose leash walking, settle down etc. • Prerequisite: All puppies must be under 12 months of age, must have remained socialized with dogs and people, proof of current, age appropriate vaccination, soft collar and leash or harness (NO choke chains), deposit of 50% to hold a place, one puppy per handler/owner and if you have 2 puppies you receive 20% discount for the 2nd puppy joining from the same household. • 6 classes, 1 hour each week Canine Good Citizen (CGC) - For dogs of all ages Practical training and certification for general pet manners, endorsed by KUSA (Kennel Union of South Africa) • Skills Taught: Calmly accepting grooming, Calmly accepting handling of paws, Politely greeting a stranger, Politely greeting a person walking a dog, Walking on a loose leash without the aid of a training collar, Walking on a loose leash through a moving crowd, Sitting for a manual examination, Sit, Down, Stay, Calm reactions to real-life distractions, and Out of sight stays. • Teaches practical pet manners beneficial to making your dog a more enjoyable companion. • The first four weeks teach the requisite skills. The fifth week of the class provides the formal Kennel Union of South Africa (KUSA) Canine Good Citizen (CGC) test. Dogs that pass all facets of the 13-part examination will receive a graduation certificate from KUSA - even if they are not KUSA registered! • Prerequisites: Puppy 2, Beginner Obedience or instructor’s approval. Intermediate Obedience is recommended • 5 classes, 1 hour each week Dog Challenge 1 – Adult beginner - Dogs aged 5 months and older. Socialization, problem solving, and positive motivational beginner obedience In this course your dog will be introduced to the basic obedience exercises using a clicker. Please note that you do not have to use a clicker. We will make sure you and your dog are developing a rewarding relationship, strengthening your bond through positive reinforcement training, mutual understanding and respect. • Skills taught: Clicker Training, Understanding general methods and theories of how to motivate and train your dog, Handling techniques, Equipment recommendations, Confidence and Socialization. • The commands Sit, Down, Stand, Recalls “Come”, Attention Control, Stay, Walk on loose leash, Leave and Relinguish “drop” and body handling (being touched all over their bodies TTouch™) • Skills Taught: Socialization familiarity with different groundwork and strange surfaces, focused attention, and various topics such as Digging, Jumping, chewing and Body Language. • Includes Q & A time dedicated toward discussing household manners and behavioural issues. Yet, please note that even though household and behavioural issues will be discussed in the class, the focus of the class is primarily basic obedience. Conse- quently, if a household or behavioral issue is inordinately vexing, severe or complex, we highly recommend an in-home private lesson to supplement the class. Now let's cement prior skills and teach new exercises. Highly recommended for all dogs. • Skills taught: Heeling with changes of pace and direction, Off Leash heeling, Distance sits, Distance downs, Come with greater distance and distractions, Come to front, Staying with greater duration, distance and distractions, Out of sight stays, Stand for examination, Finish to heel position, getting into the car without any hassles. • Introduces several agility obstacles, including the A-frame and the Tunnel. • Prerequisites: Puppy Challenge 2, Dog Challenge 1 or instructor’s approval. Impress your neighbors! Have the best behaved dog on the block. Remember, a trained dog is a happy dog and belongs to a happy owner! • Skills taught: Off-leash heeling, Off leash distance sits and downs, Out of sight and high distraction stays, Hand signals, verbal commands; Stand for grooming, Precision fronts, High Jump, Retrieve on command, Emergency stop, Tricks (spin, play dead). • Prerequisites: Dog Challenge 2 or instructor’s approval. Pet Sitting Services Going away for a few days or weeks? The benefits of leaving your beloved pet at home in an environment they are comfortable in and know are far greater than having them board in a cattery or kennel. Visits are available for any type of pet (dogs, cats, fish, birds, etc.) Our pet carers (depending on how often you need) can come in to your home daily and visit your loved ones, keeping them happy and busy. Daily visit includes: • Fresh food and water with every visit. • Litter tray clean and/or yard pet waste cleanup. • Playing with pets. • Administrating medication if necessary. • Basic home maintenance like plant watering, opening and closing of curtains, clearing of letter boxes and home security checks.
